Mike is one of those people I will be sad not to see. He was a wonderful friend. I was awkward and hadn't dated much. One night we went (with a group?) to a game or something, and he gave me his letterman jacket to wear. I suppose it meant I was special to him, but I think we were both shy, and the "going steady" conversation never came up. A few days later, I returned the jacket. We did remain good friends.
