Ponce Espinoza attended RHS from 1985-1988. He was always involved in the leadership program, track and soccer. Ponce was class Treasurer his Senior year and was a key player on the 1988 CIF Champion Soccer team. Ponce graduated RHS in 1988 and went on to the US Military Academy Preparatory School, earning an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. Ponce graduate from West Point in 1993 earning his commission as an Army Officer, 2nd Lieutenant. Ponce has served in Georgia, Germany, Bosnia, and Japan to name a few places he has served in the last 15 years. Ponce is earmarked to serve with NATO in Belgium and is currently a Major in the US Army. Ponce has been a stellar example of success. His accomplishments include numerous Army citations, awards and medals. Ponce has been an inspiration to his family including his younger brother James who served 6 yrs in the Army and younger sister, Monica who was ASB President at RHS in 2005-06. James became a Police Officer his miliitary service and Monica is currently attending Occidental College in Glendale on and Academic scholarship. Ponce is more than deserving to on the Alumni Hall of Fame in my book. He truly is a local hero and model of success.
