Dear Becky,
Today at 3:14 a.m. Wednesday June 26, 2024 I found out through classmates that you died on December 2023. My heart is broken my precious precious Becky! You have been my friend since I was in the 8th grade and started going to Driscoll Junior high. We spent so much time together growing up, and going through the hardships and the blessings that life put us through because of the choices we made in life.
The last time we spoke was right before the 50th reunion. I had decided that I was not going to go after all because I fell and I was in a lot of pain and still am on my left arm, wrist, and hand. Sylvia sent me all the pictures and I got to see your picture. I sent you a text telling you how beautiful you looked.
Becky, I want to thank you with all my heart for being there for me in my darkest moment. I was raped and you and your husband Douglas allowed me to come and stay with you. I shared with you everything that happened to me on that horrible day and you listened and tried to help me get through this horrible situation. I made some horrible decisions and you never once judged me.
I carried each and everyone of your beautiful daughters and I got to meet most of your grandkids. I lived with you and Doug for over a year because I was afraid to live alone.
I remember your beautiful smile, your humongous laughter, you're beautiful face, and most importantly your loving and giving heart! You encouraged me to move to Austin Texas and get a job at the largest state agency in Texas. It was hard to leave my mother since I was a big time Mama's girl. But you pushed me to finally grow up. I thank you for giving me the loving push that I needed in order to seek my life. I had so many college degrees and yet I was afraid to move to another city to realize my full potential. After I got to Austin, somehow I managed to become a very powerful, strong woman and not the meek, shy person I was.
You and Rachel are my best friends throughout my life and I still consider both of you my best friends until I die.
Now you are in heaven with God and you are singing the most beautiful song.
I know when I last spoke to you, you were the guardian of almost all your grandchildren. I hope your daughters are caring for their children now.
When I last spoke to you I asked you to give me Rachel's new phone number and for some reason you said you didn't have it. Rachel if you read this please call me. You are my number one mija and I love you dearly. You are my best friend..
Becky, I wish someone would have called me to let me know that you had died because I would have gone to say goodbye to you my precious best friend. Thank you for being with me when my mother died, and thank you for being my best friend! I will always love you Becky and I will never ever forget you!
Until we see each other again in heaven, Josie Sanchez

The Roy Miller High School Class of 1973 celebrated their 50th Reunion on September 22-23, 2023 at the Corpus Christi Airport and Convention Center, Corpus Christi, Texas. Our deceased classmates were remembered with a beautiful heavenly display of our fellow Battlin’ Buccaneers followed by prayer. GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. Once a Buc....Always a Buc! R.I.P.
