Captain Albert J. Grecco is a native of Poughkeepsie, New York. He is a 1982 graduate of the United States Naval Academy where he received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and was commissioned.

After initial Surface Warfare training in Newport, RI, Captain Grecco was stationed aboard USS KING (DDG 41) where he served as Gunnery Officer and TERRIER Missile Officer, and completed a 1984 deployment to the Persian Gulf. He entered the Weapon Systems Engineering program at the Naval Postgraduate School, became an Engineering Duty Officer, and graduated in 1988 with a Masters of Science in Engineering Science.

Captain Grecco has served in acquisition and engineering assignments in both headquarters and the field. He served as a Project Officer at the Naval Ship Weapon Systems Engineering Station, where he led the Developmental Testing of Mk 92 Mod 6 Firecontrol system on USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61). His headquarter assignments have included tours as Technical Director for the NAVSEA Surveillance Systems Subgroup (SEA 62X), and as a Ship Self-Defense Systems Engineer in the Program Executive Office, Theater Air Defense.

Captain Grecco returned to sea to serve as Combat Systems Officer, USS TICONDEROGA (CG 47), where he completed a 1995 deployment to Sixth Fleet and conducted EASTPAC counter-narcotic operations.

He was assigned to the Program Executive Office, DD 21 and Associated Programs and served as the first Combat Systems Officer for the DD 21 Program. Subsequent assignments included tours in the Program Executive Office, Theater Surface Combatants as the Aegis Shipbuilding Combat Systems, Test and Trials Officer (PMS 400D5) and Aegis Combat Systems Engineer (PMS 400B3), and as the DD(X) Warfare Systems Engineer in the Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems. Captain Grecco was selected as the Program Manager and Technical Director for the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System where his program accrued an unequaled record of successful exoatmospheric intercepts to include the satellite shootdown of a failed U. S. reconnaissance satellite that posed a danger to population centers. His last assignment while on active duty was Major Program Manager for Integrated Combat Systems in the Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems. Since retiring in January 2011, he has been employed by Mission Solutions Engineering, LLC as the Vice President for Strategy and Business Development.

Captain Grecco's personal decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit with gold star; Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal with gold star; Navy Commendation Medal with three gold stars; Navy Achievement Medal; NATO medal; and is the 2009 recipient of the American Society of Naval Engineers Gold Medal Award. He is married to the former Lacy Williams of Norfolk, Virginia and has two daughters.

Served as a Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Battalion Maintenance Supervisor, and 1SG. Deployed to El Salvador, Honduras, Peru, and Haiti.was the rear Detachment 1SG for Kosovo SFOR 4 and OIF for HHOC 101st MI BN Wurzburg, Germany.

Guarded the Fulda Gap with 1/11 ACR Blackhorse when the wall was still up. Invaded Bosnia in 1995 along with serving in the Gulf War while assigned to 1st Armor Division, 2/68 Armor, Silverlions. Awarded numerous citations and military honors.
