Bob McConnell, brother of Richard, Roger and Phil passed on peacefully at Merry Heart Nursing Home in Succasunna. He was 74 and for the last few years he battled Lewy Body Dementia which is a combination of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. In addition to his brothers he leaves behind his children Ann Marie Merkey and Gary McConnell.
He was a certified "car nut" from an early age when he built model car kits and became a collector of more cars than one could count starting with a 41 Chevy which he drove in the woods of Mt. Arlington to an "American Graffiti" inspired 55 Chevy. When he was 18 he left for Southern California with Wayne Dvornak in a 1932 Ford 3 window coupe w/ Chevy engine. From there he joined the Navy then returned to NJ where he lived out the rest of his life near his family.
