Class of 1969
Cindy graduated from Roxbury in 1969 when there were NO girls sports until the spring of her Senior year when girls track was offered. She ran the 440, did the high and long jumps. After Roxbury she went to William Paterson University, where she played softball for 4 years and field hockey for her Senior year. It is field hockey where she has excelled. She became a US Field Hockey Association umpire in 1971, earning the rank of National Umpire in 1981. She still maintains that rating of the highest level of umpire in the US and has umpired intercollegiate post season play since 1978. She has served on umpiring boards from the very local to the national level, local umpiring chair, rules interpreter, assignor to the sectional umpiring chair and the national umpiring chair of the United States Field Hockey Association (USFHA). In 2003, the USFHA Umpiring Division confered the coveted National Honary Umpire Award on Cindy for her many years of service and maintainence of umpiring skills at the highest national standards. Cindy has taught at USFHA camps, is a certified National (Level 3) umpire evaluator, and a certified USFHA Umpire Coach. She teaches physical education at Corcoran HS in the Syracuse, NY school district. She has coached varsity volleyball, varsity softball, varsity girls track and field, as well as junior high school track, basketball, gymnastics and volleball. She has competed in NYS Senior Games winning gold medals in softball, badminton and horseshoes. In her first year of golf competition, she tied for second in the Syracuse Post-Standard Women's Golf tournament.
