Darrell Wade Funk Obituary

Darrell was one of my best friends. We had so many adventures (well, at least adventures that you could have in Southern California) of hunting coyotes in the desert, driving crazy around Rosemead and El Monte. Getting kicked out of Boy Scouts (we desrved it), fishing at Legg Lake, and lots other things that will go unmentioned here. Especially since Darrell isn't here to defend himself, or at least give his side of the story. We planned on moving to Alaska after we finished serving two year missions, sharing the gospel Jesus Christ. We were going to marry beautiful local girls, who also liked to shoot, and hunt. We were going to live next door to each other. Our kids were going to be best friends, and were were going to hunt big game, catch hundreds of fish, and adventure in the Alaska wilderness with our families.
Sadly it was not to be. A different path and drugs took my friend and destroyed our plans. I went to Alaska and lived the dream without Darrell. But I never gave up trying to get him to move up to Alaska. In the end I know that Darrell came back to Christ. I KNOW that he is in heaven with his mom (who was a saint) and his dad (who taught me about firearm safety and weapons in general) and serving Jesus Christ. Darrell Funk will have a whole chapter in my life story that I am writing. I miss you buddy. I wish things had turned out different for the whole Alaska thing, but in the eternal scheme of things I am sure we will see the purpose of how things turned out.
