Graduation Year Class of 1974
Date of Passing Sep 14, 2024
About It is with deep sadness that we reveal that on September 14, 2024, Steven Peter Motschenbacher passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 68. The light of this generous, artistic brother has left this world to continue his journey in the next. We will miss him beyond measure.
Peter grew up in Roseburg, Oregon along the Umpqua River. A river that is one of the most beautiful rivers in all of Oregon and he loved it. He swam and floated the river whenever he could, and this led to scuba diving and joining a club in Roseburg. Peter graduated from Roseburg High School and the University of Oregon in a Business Degree. He became an Accountant and made this his career for many years. His hobbies included reading, music and photography, where he would bring out the beauty of the smallest detail of a flower. He was very artistic and liked to work with his hands, giving friends and family wooden pens that he had made. He enjoyed target shooting where he would bring exploding targets to shoot at, or where family members would have to duck when he throw cow pies up in the air to shoot at. He was very generous, loyal, and willing to help whenever he could.
Unfortunately, Peter suffered a stroke, which left him paralyzed on one side of his body and he was confined to a wheelchair for over ten years. But his spirit never wavered. We had family zoom calls weekly where we caught each up on our lives. We look forward to when we can talk together again.
Peter is survived by his siblings: Dr. Michael Motschenbacher; Patrice Motschenbacher-Hammer, her husband Bob and their children; Marie Gambill, her husband James and their children; and Tony Motschenbacher, his wife Julie and their children.
Events There will be a Memorial Service at Hope Presbyterian Church in Rogue River, Oregon on November 23, 2024 at 11 am.
