Events	Mike was born Feb. 28, 1942 in Portland, Oregon, to Terry and Virginia Schrunk. He passed away at age 80, on January 30, 2023. Mike grew up in North Portland and graduated from Roosevelt High School where he played multiple sports. After graduating he attended Portland State University where he played football and basketball. While studying there, he met his future wife Shirley. University of Oregon Law School was next on his agenda. He graduated and passed the Bar in 1967. Mike then went on active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a proud Marine and served in Vietnam and Quantico, Va. At the completion of his service he was hired by George Van Hoomissen as a Deputy DA for Multnomah County and started his law career. He was later elected District Attorney and served for 32 years, retiring in 2012. In his retirement he enjoyed hiking in the Columbia Gorge, traveling with his wife, playing raquetball, walking the dogs, and most of all, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children, Lindsay Duyck (Patrick), Matthew Schrunk (Kris); his grandchildren, Abby, Julie, Cole, Oliver, Elliot; and his sister, Judy Holmboe. He was predeceased by his brother, Patrick in 1996. At his request there will be no funeral.
