GA ACDA LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Dr. James A. Bohart, Sr. was awarded the Georgia American Choral Directors Association Lifetime Achievement Award on June, 25, 2015. The mission of the American Choral Directors Association is to inspire excellence in choral music through education, performance, composition, and advocacy. The organization is in its fifty-fifth year and has over 21,000 members. Jim joined ACDA in 1965 and became a life member in 1968. He has been elected and appointed to leadership roles at the state, divisional, and national levels of ACDA and the Georgia Music Educators Association.
Dr. Bohart retired from Oglethorpe University in 2008 after 36 years of teaching. Choral and instrumental ensembles under his direction have performed at ACDA, GMEA, and Music Educators National Conference conventions, and on tour in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, and Australia. Jim served as Minister of Music for 18 years at Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church, and was the Conductor/Musical Director of the Choral Guild of Atlanta for 10 years. From 1973 to 1992, Jim produced and directed Rich’s Lighting of the Great Tree. He is still very active as a clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor.

RTHS 2006 Homecoming is Friday, Sept. 22 against Western Sun Conference opponent, Yorkville. Homecoming parade spectators should expect a change to spirit banners. No traditional floats. Thursday
