Carol Dee Whaley, 71, entered the presence of her Savior Monday, January 16, 2023 at the Rochelle Community Hospital, with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with liver cancer.
Carol was born on July 7, 1951, the daughter of Richard F. and Margaret L. (Henry) Countryman in Rochelle, Illinois. She lived in the Rochelle area her whole life.
She met her husband Ron in 1970 and they married that same year. Ron and Carol have two children together, Paul and Angie.
Carol worked for Contel/Verizon for 34 years until retiring in 2012. She loved watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and she and Ron enjoyed traveling the US. She also traveled many times on mission trips and visits to Honduras, where her daughter and family are missionaries. She had a passion to serve the people there.
Carol was the most loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family. She loved to share with others the experiences with her family whenever she had the opportunity
Carol is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Richard. She is survived by her husband Ron, son Paul (Clarice) Whaley and daughter Angie (Ryan) Schick, her grandchildren Abigail, Amanda and Jacob Schick and her brother Fred (Sue) Countryman.
The visitation will be from 5:00 - 6:50 P.M., Friday, January 20, 2023 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 P.M., Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Chris Bender officiating. Cremation care will be provided after the service.
