Hi Classmates! I hope your summer has been enjoyable. I’ve gotten to talk with some of you and others only a brief message or email. I wanted to send out a more specific “Save the Date†for our upcoming 20th R.E. Lee reunion – on Friday, November 27. The main event will be from 8pm – midnight (or beyond) with an optional dinner beforehand at 6pm. The venue will be Pompei Lounge at Emilio’s Italian restaurant (formerly L’ Italia) on Beverly Street in downtown Staunton. http://www.emiliositalianrestaurant.com/ Since the evening’s event will just be for adults, I’m also looking for a couple of folks to take the lead in organizing a daytime activity that can involve us all and families. While there will be more specific details in the upcoming couple of weeks, the budget for the main event from 8pm – midnight will be $15/person or $25/couple, paid in advance. This will include the use of the space, service staff, as well as light appetizers. There will be a cash bar for which everyone will be individually responsible. For those interested in dinner beforehand, Emilio’s will provide a private dining area to serve us all together. To allow for as much flexibility and individual dining preferences and options, everyone can make their reservations with the restaurant under our group name. More details about this will be coming. To begin getting a count of attendees, I ask that you email me directly at PhillipsMB@yahoo.com to let me know whether or not you will be attending with or without a guest (we need a head count for planning). We need to get an initial count as soon as possible! While Facebook is a great way to initially communicate and for everyone to continue to connect, email will be the best way to ultimately communicate about the specifics. I would also like to ask for volunteers to help out with things such as a daytime event , or events…someone suggested a morning golf game (weather permitting), decorations, name tags, greeting desk, and some other miscellaneous needs. One last request. Of the nearly 200 people in our graduating class, we have contact information for about 70 folks. That is actually rather good but I’d like to get more!
