| About Me | I am got a divorce after almost 21 years of marriage. I have a beautiful daughter, who is the best thing to come out of the marriage. I have lived in the Albuquerque or Phoenix since graduation. I went back and forth multiple times for my spouses work. Luckily, as an RN, it’s not that hard to find a job. In August 2009, I woke up and couldn’t even roll over in bed, sit up, or walk. After visiting a multitude of MD’s, and ruling out a stroke and seizure, it was decided that I was having a severe fibromyalgia flare. After a month passed, I was still using a walker, we decided to return to NM, to be close to family. My daughter and I moved back right away so she could get established in her school immediately, and my husband put in for a transfer. Long story short, he never did, and my daughter established a new routine on our own, and parents just lived right around the corner. I found a fantastic medical massage therapist who liked to torture me, and I went back to my old rheumatologist who changed my meds around. My life improved dramatically because of the incredible support of my parents, that MD, and my torture therapist. As an RN, I worked in outpatient clinics for 9 years, then in cardiac care about 4, then after my daughter was born in Phoenix, I started doing hospice. I absolutely loved it. Never even considered it previously, but I found it very rewarding. Also transferred back to NM for 2 years, due to my husband’s job, and was able to provide care to people I cared about, even my old neighbors and parents of my friends. Then, on my last return to Phoenix, I became an elementary school nurse. I absolutely loved it! It was a K-8 school, and then we had psychiatric diagnosed kids from K-5. So, I felt like a mom to around 1100 kids. I loved every bit of it, until I had to call Child Protective Services, or bring a parent in to tell them that their 12-14 year old daughter is pregnant. My health started to deteriorate in the fall of 2007. I had migraines so bad, I was only getting short spurts of sleep, no REM. I had to give my notice at the end of the school year in May 2008. I applied for disability shortly afterward. So now, in July 2026- I find myself doing okay. I still am dealing with my rheumatoid arthritis that I’ve had my entire life. I dealt with it in high school. But now, I have fibromyalgia on top of that. I have chronic muscle pain and headaches. I’d say I have migraines now 2-3 times a week.
