About Me | I was born in and lived in Southern California from my birth until I graduated from high school in 1971. After high school I went to Arizona Western College in Yuma, AZ with a scholarship in French Horn performance. I got drafted into the U. S. Army in March, 1972, before completing my freshman year of college. After some time in the Army I got accepted into the Army Band and played French Horn in several bands and locations, to include four years in Germany (from 1974 to 1977), this duty included travelling all over Europe (a tough job, but someone had to do it!). I got out of the Army at Ft. Huachuca, AZ in 1980, and got married to Julie, (who was also in the Army Band previous to that time) in September of that year, I studied electronic technology for some time after that and became a technician. I have worked as an Electronic Technician, in one form or another, for over thirty years (since 1984). I ran my own electronic repair business from 1992 until 2002, when it became less expensive to replace electronics rather than repair them. After that, I worked in electronic design and development for the U.S. Army at the Electronic Proving Ground located near here. beginning in 2004. This was a job I enjoyed and felt very suited to. I was unceremoniously dismissed from my job as the most awarded contractor in my department in early December, 2013. I was never told why. I have been un-employed since then and have survived by selling my vintage radios and US and Japanese Hi-Fi equipment (that I have been collecting for over 30 years). Component-level electronic repair is now a thing of the past as a career, but I still restore vintage electronic equipment for fun, and to make things from my collection sell-able. Julie and I have four grown sons, born in 1982, 84, 86 and 88; all of whom live rather far away now. We have both lived in the Sierra Vista, AZ area since the late 70s. I have continued to play French Horn in local bands and orchestras over the years and have played electric...(read more) |
