About Me ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ wife to Chris Pena, mom to Justin (14yrs. old)and Christopher Jr.(4yrs. old) I love God and my family both by blood and choice. My biggest flaw is wearing my heart on my sleeve. My hobbies? TELLING OTHERS ABOUT GOD's MIRACLES, praying for and helping others in any way I can, putting a smile on the face of a loved one, watching my kids grow before my very eyes and savoring every second! I love to cook, sing, write, photography, draw and paint. Anything involving creativity is my thing:) Justin has a learning disability, but he has learned to compensate throughout the years and through our journey with his SLD, I have had to learn early on how to advocate for my kids. Justin loves to hunt, fish and play football and soccer. He makes us proud:) Christopher Jr. was born with a rare heart condition that the doctors say he shouldn't live to be six months old, without a heart transplant, he is now 4. He lived as a hospice patient for the first 15 months of his life and his heart condition unexpectedly improved, when he was 20 months, we found out his heart condition was caused by something even more rare, a genetic disorder called Barth syndrome only boys are diagnosed, but it affects the entire family. It is so rare that if people would hold hands from one end of the world, all of the way around, only one of those people would be a boy with Barth syndrome. We go to lots of doctors appointments and have therapy 3x a week, but God is so good. He has overcome so much. Every new day, he proves a doctor wrong. (which the good ones don't mind). Even though his disease presents physical disabilities, he is a very bright child and motivated to learn! I love to hear him say "I Love you" and all of the other things they said we would never see! You can read more about him here: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/cj08/mystory Both of my kids are very different, but make us burst with pride through each of their strengths and watching the two of them together, you will see a love like no other. I work hard to spread the word God is in the miracle buisness. I work through any means possible to spread the word about Congenital heart defects the #1 birth defect worldwide and pulse oximetry should be added to the newborn screening panel among other changes needed for those affected by CHD among those are awareness. Being a rare disease carrier and mom support the awareness of rare diseases and the one in particular affecting my family and the foundation standing behind us is Barth syndrome Foundation (www.barthsyndromefoundation.org) My husband Chris has bulldogs running through his veins, and well I guess it rubbed off on me a little too. We enjoy travelling to show and weight pulls and visiting with our dog family while doing so. We are lifetime members of the Endangered Breeds association and actively work against the promotion of breed specific legislation.I am a USDO (United States dog Organization) board member and judge, and a co- secretary for Cajun Country APBT club. We love our dogs very much they are like family, so much that we have been travelling daily 60 miles round trip to care for them cause they have been deemed "monsters" where we live and are illegal. We are working on getting moved to a county where they are still legal and they can come home to us forever. Family is what matters to us and we do what we have to for them. We have been through a lot together and through it all I believe God has made us stronger. I also LOVE being a river rat during the summer and going on road trips with my best friend and soulmate, and our kids. I have found that Either you will love or hate me.
