Roger Zayas

Roger Zayas

Class of 1980

Roger was an exchange student in Richland HS for the class of 79-80. Originally from the Dominican Republic, he's been involved in music since he was 10. At Richland he was part of the Jazz ensemble and the Marching band. When he came back to the DR he started working at a recording studio as an assistant. a couple of years later he worked as a sound engineer. In 1984 he becomes part of "Juan Luis Guerra & 440" a vocal group. Being one of the founding members, he is still part of the band.
Juan Luis Guerra is one of the most famous latin artist in the world. Winner of several awards on the way, His last album, "La Llave de mi Corazón" (The key to my heart), won 6 latin grammys and the American Grammy to Best Tropical Album, as it did with the Album "Bachata Rosa", in 1990.
For his work with the band during 25 years, and counting, he deserves to be at the wall of fame, being a pretty famous figure in his country and also an important part of this huge artist.
As a document of proof I submit a website that cronicles the history of this band: www.juanluisguerra440.com or www.guavaberry.net
