About Me I attended RSCS from 1962-mid Nov. 1974, and since then moved to Greece to be with husband as he was in the Navy. I ended up graduating from high school from the American University with honors. I worked for the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, and the Dept. of Defense (DOD) and was the last Navy Dependent to leave when the Navy was being kicked out of Greece. Lived in Kalamaki in order to immerse in the culture and our home was the bottom floor of the house that the Italian Ambassador to Greece and his family lived in upstairs. Lived across the street from the Mediterranean and had a beautiful garden of roses and lemons and marble everywhere including our sidewalk and inside our home. Was my favorite place to live since then and an incredible experience, but not, without its dangers quite volatile as it has been of late. Next while the ship was in dry dock in Philadelphia, PA, we lived in NJ and at the end of December 1976, our son Michael David was born at the Naval Hospital in Philly. Six weeks later moved back to NY temporarily before moving to next base in Mayport, Florida, for about six months then back temporarily to NY then onto Thurso, Caithness, Scotland for 3 and 1/2 years. While there, took a couple of courses at Thurso College. In May 1979, our daughter, Mary Elizabeth was born in an old castle converted to a hospital. Also while there I worked for the Dept. of the Navy as a Quality Control Officer AND was a U.S. Customs Inspector for the household goods heading back to the states, which did not come without excitement from time to time. Moved back to NY thereafter, and sadly (only later to find out) made the biggest mistake of my life and divorced hubby. Worked in the medical field at Bassett in Cooperstown and then Little Falls Hospital as their Admitting Manager and then went back to College, HCCC, fulltime immersing myself into college life while remarried and raising 2 children. Was VP of our Phi Theta Kappa honor society, started and was President of our Paralegal organization, as well as a member of other groups while there and graduated with an A.A.S. Paralegal Degree with Honors and was asked to give and gave the Commencement Address for our class of 1988....was offered a full-boat scholarship to go to law school but turned it down as before graduating I started working again for the U.S. Government, first by an internship with the U.S. Marshals Service and then having a position created for me in the Pro Se Staff Attorneys Office in the U.S. District Court....then came an unwanted divorce just as I was accepted into the honors program at Syracuse University at Utica College, which I declined because of the divorce. Later once again remarried which was a mistake to have done resulting in yet another divorce. I then worked in the U.S. District Court, and thereafter offered a position in the U.S. Marshals Service manning the Criminal Desk...a very exciting dream job that I worked very hard to get encompassing so much more as back then we did not have any female deputies posted to our office. Unfortunately, a couple of accidents, first falling out of the top of a hayloft (no was not up there for fun) donning some pretty major spinal damage and a broken wrist then after recuperation I was still able to attend the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in GLYNCO, GA. Ten months after falling out of the barn, I was in a very serious car accident where the rear bumper of my car was literally put up to the back of my head, causing some brain damage and serious soft tissue damage and exacerbated the serious spinal damage that I already had along with other serious injuries which resulted in the U.S. Marshals Service rendering me retired disabled. During that time period I once again remarried (4th time if you are losing count) to my current husband and we have been together 27 years now. He was born in California and grew up in NJ and has resided in Brookfield, NY, since 1976. We have a small ranch of about 162 acres of land including a beautiful home that he built. He was a crane operator for about 30 years and recently retired. He is a talented man in his own right and can build and or produce anything that is asked of him. He also is a licensed commercial diver even though there is not much of a call to do that professionally in this area. He much more prefers to do that in for fun in more tropical settings and has done so all over the world. As many of you remember, I had a rare ovarian cancer in the 10th grade at the age of 15 and by 16 Bassett in Cooperstown finally found it in April 1973 and was very lucky to have my 2 miracle babies years later. In April 2003 I was diagnosed with a rare terminal metastatic cancer, Carcinoid Syndrome, which normally only has a survival rate of 3 months to 3 and half years from diagnosis, but I have outlasted that diagnosis for 21 years!!!! I have had MULTIPLE rare tumors removed head to toe, my team of doctors now figure it is because of the National Cancer Institute experiments radiating the hell out of kids in the forties fifties and early sixties while our government was doing the same in the military during that time frame. I received full head maximum dose maximum length of time in 1966 at 9 years of age because my adenoids grew back from when they were taken out in 1962. I also had my chest cracked open to take out a large thymoma, but I still kept on ticking. Over the years, nearly every body part has been affected from cancer, tumors and other major side affects of the radiation exposure. While living and working in Scotland, I as well as every person living in that region, had been also exposed to dangerous material that the Dounreay Nuclear Power Plant had for decades been leaking into the North Sea, ground and air without any ‘public’ knowledge until the 1990’s and I NEVER new about it until by mere happenstance learned about it in mid September 2016. No wonder my poor body was affected in so many ways having had to endure so many absurd health crisis’s time after time. My husband and I have been fortunate enough to travel over our years together to Mexico, Bali, Fiji, Singapore, Amsterdam, Canada, multiple Caribbean Islands, coast to coast in the U.S., Hawaii and all points in between adding to the multiple places I had previously been mostly throughout Europe as well as lived in. My daughter and her husband ( in nuclear power ) have five children all of whom they have homeschooled and they now live in Michigan. I am fortunate to have a local grandbaby she is 14 from my son and they reside in Hamilton, NY, only about 10 minutes away from us. Both my children have very successful businesses. All in all, despite my health I have always TRIED to live my life to the fullest and TRY to keep upbeat AND despite having gone thru some crappy stuff, I have had an incredible life filled with things sometimes you only dream about. I have loved hard; have 2 incredible children and 6 amazing grandbabies in ages from 14 to 27. Music and dance has always been a big part of my life and I also enjoy gardening when I have been able to. Most of the time I live each day as if it were my last; I feel that God has blessed me. Most days my brain feels like it is 18, but my body reminds me every day that I am not. We were very blessed living in a small town, especially Richfield Springs, even though most of us didn't realize it until we were much older. Where has all the time gone???? Seems like only yesterday we were kids in school. Hope this finds each and every one of you happy and at peace as well. Update: Sadly, I now have an extremely rare Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Cancer in addition to my Carcinoid Syndrome and Pancreastatin levels and other tumor markers. On 2/2/22, I underwent more biopsies along with an open pancreatic enucleation surgery; however, biopsies show worsening prognosis and they couldn't get clean margins without doing a "Whipple Procedure", which the surgeon knew going in I am NOT doing that surgery. I was in Albany Med for 18 1/2 days, had some complications. Home now: every day I get a bit stronger from surgery. THIS surgery was rough; I can't imagine a whipple nor do I have any desire due to the stats; God willing what surgery we did do, it will buy me some time, as that was the purpose of performing this surgery. I have far out weighed my expiration date a LONG time ago and because of that I want quality over quantity. None of us, know what, when or how the end will happen; I just might have a little heads up, that's all. We also put our property up for sale as we are hopi...(read more)
