My hangout and workplace

I am not a Raider ,but a Lancer and I have 2 daughters Jodi and Heather Knudsen that are Raiders. I worked at Vans during the very busy days, drove my 1933 Ford or my 53 Oldsmobile. Days were 1959-1962. I am Harold.

Vans Drive-Inn was great!!

I read the post about the old Vans Drive-Inn on NE Sandy Blvd. and it brought back a flood of fantastic memories! Growing up my parents had a boat and we lived on NE 148th just North of NE Halsey Street. Every summer we would spend the weekends boating/camping on the Columbia River and we would head down 148th to Sandy and go East to put in at Rooster Rock State Parks' launch ramp. Come Sunday evening we'd be heading home, tired, dirty, sunburned and covered head to toe in sand, but we'd always manage to stop at Vans Drive-Inn for a Green River, a Root Beer Float or a Chocolate Malt! It was a great way to top off a wonderful famly weekend. Chasing the geese and ducks, dropping your ice cream cone on the ground, it was all good!!! Loved that place, but now it is a Philly Cheesesteak house..........

Vans diner burgers and fries

Looking for any vintage and or nostalgic pictures of the Vans diner. It is located at about 158th and Sandy. This place is still there and many of us want to share the experience of how it used to be with our kids. Remember driving back from the east end of the state only to always stop at Vans for a treat with the family. Also the hang out time was great.

The orig building is still there but a lot of development has taken the charm out of sitting at a picnic table and enjoying the ducks and creek. THNKU.
