About	In remembrance of Joe Princena, 2020 alumnus and beloved high school band director Faculty, staff, and alumni of Portland State University share our deepest condolences with the family of Joe Princena, a 2020 alumnus, following his unexpected death on July 6, 2022. He is remembered as a gifted and inspiring music teacher. “A staff member of Adrienne C. Nelson HIgh School, Joe Princena, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday. Joe completed his student teaching at Rex Putnam High School and Alder Creek Middle School before being hired as the Clackamas High School band teacher and director. This past year, Joe moved over to Adrienne C. Nelson High School where he built a strong and positive band culture and was highly respected by students and staff. At this time, his family has asked for some space as they process their grief and loss. Additional communication from the family may be shared as it is received.” Joe Princena was 25 years old. He is survived by his wife of two years, Paige Princena (Spalding), who is a 2021 alumna of PSU’s College of Education. A GoFundMe page for his funeral expenses was created by his family.
