About | Fivian, Fritz 79 01/15/1930 - 04/02/2009 Fritz Fivian, a resident of Milwaukie, passed away peacefully in his home with his son and daughter at his side. He was born in Thun, Switzerland, and immigrated to America during the '50s. Fritz served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea; he was on the Army's wrestling team. He was a wrestler at Oregon State University, three-time (1959-61) Pacific Coast Conference champion and two-time national champion; he participated internationally, touring through Eastern Europe in 1959 and was in the 1960 Rome Olympic Games, wrestling Greco-Roman. He retired in 1988 after 26 years of teaching French and German, 24 of those years spent at Rex Putnam High School in Milwaukie, 19 years as assistant coach of wrestling. He was inducted into the OSU Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1992. Fritz was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Blackburn, in 2007. They married in 1966. He is survived by his two brothers and two sisters who all reside in Switzerland; daughter, Lisa; two sons, Alan and Fritz; and one grandchild. A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009, in Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 11801 S.E. Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, OR 97266.
