About Me I’ve been Granny Squared; both my sons had… SONS!! TJ & Aidenn Thor. I am the Jelly Lady in the SCA Middle & Northshield Kingdoms. I am Wise, Intuitive, Talented, Compassionate, & Honest (to the best of my abilities). Don't ask for my honest opinion, unless you want it. I am Happy inside my own skin. Finally. Since Sherrard HS class of 1978 My plans after high school was to take time to goof around then join the Military at 20. I had Great Plans; then I got SICK. What started out in October 1979 as a stubborn sore throat and swollen joints ended up with being told I had Heart Disease and was dieing, at 19. Over the next 16 months, my World went to Hell. I was in the hospital right after Thanksgiving till just before Christmas. A couple of weeks after I got out of the hospital my Dad went in; for him a minor blockage turned into Stage 4 Colon Cancer, they gave him 6 months to a year to live. His Mother, my Buddy, was already in late phase Lung Cancer that had spread into her bones; Buddy died Aug 1980, six months before her son. My Dad died exactly a week after I turned 21. My Opinion At The Time was: the 2 people I LOVED MOST and who LOVED, SUPPORTED, & ENCOURAGED me THE MOST in the WORLD WERE GONE!! Why should I Stay?? I had just been told that ‘Having too MUCH Fun’ would, not could, would kill me. Well… How much fun is Too Much Fun?? I was going to find out. It’s called ‘Death by Misadventure’ not Suicide. I did a lot of STUPID stuff; Drugs are Bad & I trusted Poorly & too easily. I was a Ring Girl for something years ago called The Tough Man Contest, twice. Its kind of like a slightly organized bar fight. Without weapons of course, using boxing gloves. Trust me, it is not easy to walk around in a boxing ring in high heels. That was back when people called me Too Tall. I traveled with my 1st husband, before my sons came around. Florida is an interesting place to visit; I lived there for 6 months. Christmas Eve 1983 it was 30* in Miami; boy were They surprised!! LOL! I swam in the Atlantic & the Gulf and learned how to swim out of a Rip Tide. Some parts of Texas impressed me, most didn’t. They have REAL SCARY roads; “mix masters”. Both states have nasty bugs and nastier snakes. Too HOT. I’ve been places, seen & done things I never would have Imagined, some were things I would never wish on my worst enemy. For the next few years I tested that, ‘Too much Fun would kill me.’ I put myself into places & situations that were dangerous & could have cost my life. I have learned that life on the streets of a Big City (Miami, Tampa, Dallas) is not for the faint of heart. “That which does not kill us makes us stronger,” I have faced men with guns and knives and talked my way out of Trouble. I am now a VERY Strong Woman. This is why I open my Home to some of the stray Youth of the QCA to protect them from the Creeps out there. I came back to the QCA before my 1st son was born, just in case something would go wrong with my heart. I hoped at least one of us would survive his birth. My 2nd husband was about having a BIG family. He traded me (33) in for an 18yr old with All her Original Parts after we both had Cancer. I don’t blame him, not really. I married the 3rd time to keep a roof over my sons’ heads. When he had a problem with something I did or said he took it out on my Kid. When he punched my Kid for the last time – I called the Cops. Out he went. Husband #4 is a Great Guy, everybody loves him. He’s a lot of FUN to be around. Unfortunately, I am a bit High Maintenance. As an OTR Truck Driver, he seemed to change companies always just as I was due to get Health Insurance Coverage for my Pre-Existing Conditions. That didn’t work. But, he’s still a great guy. Ask anyone who knows him. I opened my Home to people who needed a place to stay while they get on their feet, get a job & save the money needed to move on. My ‘Strays’ helped me pay the bills. In Nov 2006, I came up with a WILD IDEA to try and raise the money needed to buy my house from the Landlord, $45,000. I was asking for Donations of $5.00 to allow me to keep feeding & housing up to 12 people, 3 cats, & 1 Big Fluffy Dog. I called my Idea “Hair for a Home” I would cut all my hair off & donate it, posting pictures Online, in December. All I was asking was for Everyone to send $5.00 – the cost of a pack of cigarettes, a fancy coffee, or lunch at a fast food place, to help me take care of people who fell through the cracks of the Social Service Agencies. I may not have much, but there are those who have Far Less than I do. I pledged to cut my hair off if I raised the money to buy the house. I didn’t raise over $160. but I still cut my hair off. That’s when I knew that (#4) marriage was over. I have Fun with Life. Some people don’t appreciate it or me. “Act your age,” is something I hear often, but I’m 12, almost. On March 27, 2000 my heart surgery stopped my Heart BEATING; yes, I was hooked up to a machine to keep me Alive, but still. I count myself very Blessed & know Someone has PLANS for me. I was allowed to survive, mostly intact, and allowed to “Come Back” after my heart surgery. I don’t think I’m Done with my Mission. I walked and talked with Dead Family & Friends during my heart surgery. I still feel them close by me. I have been involved with the SCA, an Educational Creative Historical Re-enactment Organization. The time period ranges from 600 – 1600’s we dress in funny clothes, buy/sell/trade Crafts/Weapons/Clothes/ Whatever we’ve made; during weekend camp outs. It is a modern version of a Medieval Market Festival, we Eat, Drink, & are VERY MERRY!! LOL. It was at my first one of these Events that I came to feel I am not a Freak. Many of these folks follow The Dream, of a time when Honor, Loyalty, Courtesy were words that meant something. Add Flush Toilets, Hot Water, Refrigeration, Modern Medicine and it’s a real Goode Tyme!! I haven’t got or done, a whole lot; other than just managing to stay Alive. I am most Proud of the Men I brought into this World and did my best to raise them in a manner their Grandpas would be proud of. For any further details, contact me. We’ll do L...(read more)
