About | Larry E. Okins, age 54 of Redwood Falls, died suddenly of heart failure at his home near Redwood Falls Friday, August 25, 2006. Larry Earl Okins was born October 7, 1951 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota to Donald and Evelyn (Frederiksen) Okins Sr. He was baptized and confirmed in the First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls. Larry grew up in Redwood Falls attending Reede Gray Elementary School and Redwood Falls High School graduating in 1969. He moved with his family to The Crow Creek Home, and lived in the Twin Cities for a couple of years in the early 1970s. On April 29, 1977 he was united in marriage to Linda Brockway in Lamberton, and they lived in Redwood Falls and the area since. He was Senior Sign Man for the Redwood County Highway Department where he has worked for the past 30 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting day trips when the boys were young and family camping trips. Trips to Yellowstone Park, northern Minnesota and their trip to Australia in 2002 for their 25th anniversary. His family was always his priority and he loved his five Chihuahuas - Harley, Lucy, Lucky, Lilly and Libby and his newest pet Ruby his macaw. Larry E. Okins died suddenly at home near Redwood Falls Friday, August 25, 2006 at the age of 54 years, 10 months and 18 days. He is survived by his wife Linda Okins of Redwood Falls, his father Donald Okins Sr. of Redwood Falls, two sons; Tom Okins of Roseville and Bob Okins and special friend Allie Schroeder of Willmar. Also surviving are his siblings; Donald Okins Jr. of Redwood Falls, Kay Peters and husband Bill of Redwood Falls and Gary Okins of Owatonna. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother Evelyn in 2000 and an infant brother. |
