Kuanita E. Murphy
Class of 1993
Kuanita Evette Murphy is a native of Cuthbert (Randolph County), Georgia. Murphy graduated from Randolph Clay High School in 1993 and from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1997. Her concentrations include: oil painting, drawing, photography, graphic design and website design.
Her work depicts various aspects of African American life in the rural south, and her mission is to preserve African American history through her art. Murphy’s artistic works have been displayed across the United States and several continents including North America, Latin America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and Southern African.
In 2004, Murphy graduated from Valdosta State University with a Masters of Arts Degree in History (2004). Currently, she is pursuing a Doctor of Management Degree in Organizational Leadership through the University of Phoenix.
In 2006, Murphy received a Certificate of Congressional Recognition from the Office of Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr., for outstanding community service. In 2008, Murphy designed a Christmas ornament for Congressman Bishop that was displayed on the official White House Christmas tree.
A 2010 Leadership Georgia grad, Murphy is an author and columnist, who contributes weekly for the Cuthbert-Southern Tribune and The Citizen Times. She also has an inspirational blog entitled, Lady K's Inspirations at KuanitaMurphy.com. During the same year, she also received the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Award.
In January 2011, Murphy received the Labor Award for exemplary community service and commitment. March 16, 2011 was designated Kuanita Murphy Day in Cuthbert and Randolph County, GA for her devotion and community service.
She was also featured in Georgia Municipal Association News April 2011and Southwest Georgia Living Magazine May/June 2011 Edition.
Murphy’s currently serves as the Executive Director of Randolph County Family Connection, Inc. in Cuthbert, Georgia where she currently resides.
