About Me Married to classmate Bill Davis now for 59 years. We have had a wonderful and often exciting life together, living in six states and the country of Spain while moving 24 times the first 48 years together. In the beginning, Bill was in the Air Force for four years including a year in Vietnam. He has been working in the theme park industry for 50 years now. He retired from being the President and COO of Universal Orlando Resort 2 1/2 years ago. He just keeps going like the Energizer Bunny! He was blessed with doing something he loved and has been bestowed a number of industry awards for his contributions. During Bill’s education and job transfers I worked at being the cheerleader at home for him and our two children. We are very proud of our two kids. Bill Jr. is a lawyer with his own firm here in Orlando. He and his wife, Jill are the parents of our two grandsons Andy aged 14 and Luke 18. Our daughter Kaki (Anna Catherine) is the Senior VP of Tax for a large corporation in Orlando where the corporate headquarters are. She and her husband Bob are the parents of our granddaughter, Haile, now 18 years old. Yes, my maiden name, and this time the “E” is pronounced! In 2013, when we knew we were finally settled for good, we had our hopefully last home built, “Forever Home” in the town of Windermere, FL, a western suburb of Orlando. I jumped into this project totally and it was quite an undertaking and draining of my energies in my late sixties. Our acre lot sits on a rare feature in Central Florida, a hill! The topography lovely on Lake Down, one of eleven lakes in the Butler Chain of Lakes known for clean, spring fed lakes and bass fishing. A favorite weekend activity here at home is pulling the grandsons on a tube or knee board behind our boat and grilling hamburgers on the grill. Being a film enthusiast for what seems forever, I love to share and introduce my classic film collection to family and friends, especially in our home theater. I continue to decorate our home and enjoy my hobbies, photography foremost. Many years ago when husband Bill and I were just 17 years of age and dating, he told me his goal in life was to be the Post Master General on Bora Bora, an island in the South Pacific and he could not imagine ever needing more than $800 a month to live on. He wondered if I would find this a good life? He was a surfer at the time so Bora Bora seemed like his idea of heaven on earth. Me, very much in love, of course agreed! This past May, we actually went to French Polynesia on a cruise and when stepping foot on Bora Bora we smiled, remembering a young man's dream. We found an art galley featuring French artists and bought a lovely piece of glass art that the French artist signed her name and "Bora Bora" to. Someday in the future, hopefully this piece will be a reminder to our decendents of a young man's dream before he was known to the family as Papa! Update! Since Bill retired ten years later than the average worker, we are traveling as much as we can while we are able to, as we both enjoy seeing the world together. It is November now of 2024. Granddaughter Haile is a freshman at Barnard College in NYC. Her cousin Luke is following his father's footsteps as our son was a National Merit Scholar Finalist and Luke was named recently a National Merit Scholar Semi-finalist. The winners will be announced in the S...(read more)
