SODUS - With great courage, Darlene Sovie passed away Thursday (April 18, 2013). A memorial service will be held at Alton Free Methodist Church located at 5759 RT 14, Alton, N.Y. at 1 p.m. Saturday (corner of Ridge Rd. and Rt. 14 South). Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited for a reception at the Alton Volunteer Fire Department located at 5755 Rt. 14, Alton N.Y. (next door).
Darlene loved sports; softball, track, synchronized swimming. Darlene was a LPN and EMT who volunteered with the Sodus Fire Department and Sodus Town Ambulance Corps. Darlene treasured her family, friends, and community.
Survived by her loving husband, Mark Sovie; children, Jennifer (Michael) Singer, Becky Sovie, and Andrew (Toni Goff) Sovie and several grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Church (Peter Drock), Joann (Sara) Bettis-Harrington, and Michelle (Jeremiah) Mourey; brother-in-law Richard (Cheron) Sovie and sister-in-law Catherine (Phil) Plumadore; several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends Kathie Russell and Terry Rogers.
Predeceased by her parents Harold and Adele Bettis; sister, Tina Glaum; nephew, Michael Church; and brother-in-law Michael Sovie.
