About Me	Just before graduation from HS, I changed my last name from Laffranchi, to Ames. This was to keep my biological fathers last name as he was adopted, and changed his name to his birth name. You might remember me as Nic Laffranchi. I left Quincy 2 days after graduation for USMC Boot Camp. I completed Boot Camp on Sept 7th, 2001, just a few days before the Sept 11th events. I was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, NC. I served as an Infantryman, Designated Marksman, and Sniper attached to 1/8 Alpha, 1st Platoon. I was deployed to Iraq with the 26th MEU to Northern Iraq for the invasion in April 2003, securing the airport in Mosul. During that deployment, I was also sent to various locations in Northern Africa. In 2004, my unit was once again deployed to Iraq, Al Asad airbase. There, we ran operations in the An Anbar province including the Nov 2004 invasion of Fallujah, Operation Phantom Fury. I separated from the Marines in June 2005 as E-5, Sargent. I worked several jobs in the civilian world including construction, truck driving, mechanics, farming, student, Information Technology, and now Forensics.
