Robert L Jones III
Class of 1989

Major Robert L. Jones III (FA / FA 50) is a Force Management Officer assigned to HQDA, G-3/5/7 in the Future Warfighting Capabilities Division. Major Jones is responsible for the planning and execution of the Army’s Requirements Oversight Council (AROC) that is chaired by the Army’s Vice Chief of Staff. In addition, Major Jones is responsible for managing and staffing requirements documents that are sent from Joint Services that require decisions to be made at Colonel and General Officer levels for new joint capabilities entering the US Army. Prior assignments include Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Camp Page Korea; and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Major Jones is currently working on his PhD in Organization Management from Capella University. He holds an MA in Management from Webster University and a BA in Biology from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss).
Major Jones was also deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom while commanding Charlie Battery, 3-321st Field Artillery, from Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Under his leadership, his battery conducted over 100 Combat Logistic Patrols (CLPs), escorted over 1,933 vehicles and safely accumulated over 117,775 miles which was a 50% increase from his Transition of Authority (TOA) partner. Because of Major Jones dynamic leadership and numerous achievements earned while commanding in Iraq, he was presented the Bronze Star Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation that is awarded by the Secretary of the Army.
