Events	Sad news about the passing of our PHS 1975 classmate, Karen (Pignataro) Hopkins… Karen (Pignataro) Hopkins, known affectionately as “K-Ma” by her grandchildren, passed away on August 2nd, 2021 after a battle with cancer. Karen spent her days surrounded by the love of her husband Tom, daughters Stephanie (Matt) Wooten and Kristin (Austin) Warren, and her three grandchildren Andrea Wooten, Archer Wooten, and Estelle Warren. She will also be remembered by her mother (Joan Pignataro), brother (Steve (Dionne) Pignataro), sister (Renee Pignataro) and extended family. Karen taught Elementary School for many years before staying home with her daughters. Later in life, she returned to the classroom and taught at St. Francis Preschool in Goshen. Her love for children reached its peak when she was surrounded by her grandchildren. She spent years traveling to Andrea’s gymnastics meets, doing science experiments with Archer, and singing/dancing with Estelle. In honor of Karen, a donation can be made to the Oldham County Public Library, or any children’s charity of your choice. “K-Ma’s book collection” was graciously created by Elaine Jack and Jean Smith, and directions to donate to this cause are included in the comments. Karen’s passion was the care and education of young children, and we would love to continue this dedication in her name.
