| About Me | Worked the summer after graduation at a Libby Plant in Janesville, Wisconsin and entered OSU for the Fall Semester. Spent one semester at OSU and left for Army Reserve Training in Fort Bliss, TX and Ft. Huachuca, AZ. Returned from 4 months training and went to work at Tinker Air Force Base in OKC as a machinist trainee and enrolled at Central State College graduating in 1973 with a BBA. Married Patty Rae Smith from Prague class 0f ’69 in 1971 and moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1973 to take a job as an Air Traffic Controller with the Federal Aviation Administration. Spent a year there and returned to OKC to start law school at Oklahoma City University. My son Justin was born in 1975 and I started work at the First National Bank of OKC in the Trust Department and continued law school part time graduating with a JD in 1978. My daughter Angela was born in 1977. We moved to Phoenix, AZ for a year where I worked for Northern Trust and returned to Oklahoma for a job at Liberty Bank in OKC where I spent 20 years. During my banking career I was very active in civic and charitable organizations in OKC and Statewide as a member and officer of several Board of Directors. These included the Oklahoma City Symphony, Oklahoma City Art Museum, Shakespeare in the Park, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Oklahoma Lung Association, and the United Way. I also became a member of Edmond and Oklahoma City Leadership Groups and the Rotary Club in OKC. Patty and I divorced in 1981 (still best friends) and I have been a confirmed bachelor ever since. Moved back to Prague onto my parents farm in 1999 and purchased the local feed store, started a law practice and began raising registered Limousine Cattle and Quarter horses. None of these ventures worked out $$$$ wise. So I took a job with an International Financial Services Consulting firm headquartered in Las Vegas but was able to live on the farm at Prague when I wasn’t overseas or on assignment in the US. I managed their Domestic Trust Practice and soon added the Middle East under my responsibility. I left consulting in 2004 to start my present job with the Office of Special Trustee for American Indians an Agency in the Interior Department of the Federal Government in Albuquerque, NM. I am a Regional Fiduciary Trust Administrator managing offices in NM, CO, KS and OK. While I was aware during high school that my family on both sides had some Native American roots, we had never really pursued any research. My brother, Jim (older and smarter), did that in our late 30s and we discovered that we were Chickasaw on my mothers side but never discovered the heritage on my fathers side. In 1999 I was asked to join the Board of a Chickasaw Nation owned star...(read more) |
