About	Karen Louise (Pimentel) Rowell, died peacefully at home on 18 December, 1999 attended by her family. She was the wife of Allen Rowell. She was born in Attleboro Massachusetts the daughter of Frank R. Pimentel and Frances N. (Brousseau) Pimentel. She attended schools in various locations graduating from Portsmouth High School, Portsmouth NH in 1963. She was active in the 1964 Presidential bid or the late U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater. As the first "Goldwater Girl", she traveled the state of New Hampshire with the news media covering the Goldwater campaign. She later worked for United Airlines and Eastern Airlines as a flight attendant. She then attended Westbrook College graduating with high honors in 1977 with a degree in nursing. She worked at Maine Medical Center in Portland Maine, from 1977-1996 as an intensive care nurse and later as an emergency room nurse. She enjoyed many things in life, including gardening, cooking, camping, singing, and sharing her wisdom and humor with her family and many friends. She was diagnosed with Breast cancer in 1994 and with Bone cancer in 1996. She remained optimistic throughout her illness refusing to let the cancer dampen her spirit and willingness to live. Her courage, humor and gracious nature will be truly missed. Besides her devoted husband, Allen Rowell; she is survived by two daughters; Jenny Dare Mitchell of Newington, New Hampshire, and Katherine Elizabeth Mitchell Graham of Sanford, Maine; a son Michael Rowell of Hollis Center, Maine; Her parents Frank and Francis Pimentel of Brentwood, New Hampshire; four brothers; Richard F. Pimentel, of Epping, New Hampshire, Roderick L. Pimentel of Henniker, New Hampshire, Christopher Pimentel and Jonathan A. Pimentel of Brentwood, New Hampshire and a sister Nina M. Kewley also of Brentwood. Three grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
