After graduation from U of M I attended Naval Officer Candidate school and U. S. Naval Justice School in Newport, RI. I was then assigned to the USS Taylor a destroyer out of Pearl Harbor. Two years later I was assigned as an instructor at the US Naval Anti-submarine Warfare School in San Diego. After 5 years of active duty and 6 years in the active reserves, I left the Navy having achieved the rank of LCDR.
