About Me	Tyra Sherese Peterson is a legal paraprofessional with 25 years experience in state governmental agencies, private law firms, and the judicial system. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Michigan State University, and a post bachelor Legal Assistant Certificate from the University of Detroit Mercy. She also attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Tyra is committed to working to promote issues that she believes are important to the health and welfare of her community. She has served as Co-Chair of the Political Advocacy Committee of the Renaissance Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., as a public policy advocate during the annual Susan G. Komen Detroit Race for the Cure, and as a volunteer legal assistant in various local and state bar associations, and nonprofit organizations. She has also participated in the Black Women's Health Study conducted by both Boston University and Howard University, since 1995. Tyra completed graduate fieldwork as a campaign intern at the State Headquarters of the 2008 Michigan Campaign for Change (which supported the 2008 presidential campaign of Barack Obama, and the Democratic ticket), where she served as a 2008 Obama GOTV (Get Out The Vote) Election Day Staging Location Director. In 2009 she earned a Master of Arts Degree in Social Justice program at Marygrove College, and served as a community organizer with Metro Detroit Organizing for America (the successor organization to Obama for America, a special project of the Democratic National Committee).
