Robert was born on May 30, 1961 in Southside, WV. He married Teresa Cochran on March 3, 1984. They had a daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Brannan. Robert also adopted his stepson, Jeremy C. Brannan in 1985. Robert had five grandchildren; Jeremy, Jaycee, Kenda, Jacob, and Samuel Robert Brannan. He also had two great-grandsons, Carson and Sylas Brannan.
