Mike passed away unexpectedly on April 16 in San Jose at the age of 58 with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 10, 1946, in New Jersey. Mike graduated from Pioneer High School after moving to San Jose. He is a veteran who proudly served stateside in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Afterwards he graduated from San Jose State. He spent his career with the City of San Jose in both planning and housing. Mike will be fondly remembered for his big heart, always having a smile on his face, and his sense of humor. He was an avid Sharks fan, an animal lover, and enjoyed triathlons for many years. Mike will be missed dearly by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Cathy; sons and daughter-in-law, Kevin, Chris and Hilary; stepson Sean; mother, Della, and brothers Tom, Mark and Tim; and Diane (mother of Kevin and Chris). A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 22 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Edward's Episcopal Church located at 15040 Union Ave., in San Jose. A Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Tony LaRussa's Animal Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 30215 Walnut Creek, CA 94598. Arrangements by DARLING & FISCHER CHAPEL OF THE HILLS, in Los Gatos.
