Dr. Howard C. Walter, 60, of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away July 14, 2007. He was born and raised in San Jose, CA, served in the US Air Force during Vietnam, received Doctor of Optometry degree from Berkley, worked in R&D with Bausch & Lomb and practiced with Pearle Vision since 1997. He came to the area in 2005 from Rochester, NY.
Dr. Walter was an avid runner (25,000 miles in his lifetime) and also enjoyed, swimming, weightlifting, tennis and cycling.
Surviving are his loving wife, Laurie Ching Walter of Bonita Springs; step-sons, Jeremy Sanders of San Diego, CA and Justin Sanders of Rochester, NY; son, Michael (Graciela) Miller of Provo, UT; sister, Channa (Matt) Rosen of Rochester, NY; brother-in-law, Jason Ching of Rochester, NY; and two granddaughters.
A memorial service will be celebrated Friday, July 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Joanne's House at Hope Hospice, 27200 Imperial Street, Bonita Springs.
Memorials in his name are also suggested to Joanne's House where he received excellent and appreciated care in Wing 3.
