Douglas L. Lafferty, 23, of Curriers Rd, Arcade, was killed in a head-on collision on Rt. 39, one mile west of Barrier Road, in the Town of Sardinia, at 3:50 pm, Friday afternoon (December 20, 1974). According to the Erie County Sheriff's Department Accident Investigation Unit, Lafferty was heading east on Route 39 when his car went out of control on the wet and slippery surface, skidded across the road and collided with a vehicle driven by Michael J. Raymond, 19, of 1463 Gage Road, Forestville, NY. Mr. Raymond was taken to Mercy Hospital in Buffalo by the Chaffee-Sardinia Ambulance with head and chest injuries and arm and leg fractures, where he died two hours later.
