Emilene Marie (Hulton) Scurr, 59, of Farmersville, died with her family by her side, Friday, March 9, 2018 after a long courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer and fought to the bitter end. Emilene was born in Buffalo, on October 4, 1958, to the late James and Mary Esther (Lefort) Hulton. She married her high school sweetheart, Dale Scurr, September 29, 1978 in Arcade, NY.

Emilene was a 1976 graduate of Pioneer Central School. She had been barbering for over 40 years and the past 25 years at Emilene's Hair Care in Farmersville next to her residence. She also was barbering at the Cattaraugus County Nursing Home in Machias for the past couple of years.

Emilene was always busy doing something and would never sit still. She accomplished more in 60 years than most people do in 90. She became an avid reader after her first diagnosis of breast cancer in the fall of 2012. She loved to garden, spend time with her husband, daughter and two grandchildren and her best friend and sister, Kathy, who will miss her most. She was very insistent on her yard work, mowing of the property fence lines and making sure all the buildings were shoveled out during the winter. Emilene always dropped everything to help out a friend in need.

Emilene is survived by her husband Dale, daughter Betsy and two grandchildren who were the apple of her eye, Olivia and Benjamin, all of Farmersville, an estranged daughter Sandra (Darwin/Jr) Peters and their daughters Alexis and Lilianna of Hinsdale, her favorite sister Kathy (William) Krotz of Machias, a special Aunt-in-law Hope (Mooney) Berwind of Lynbrook, NY, a sister Lynn (Michael) Ronan of Rushford, a brother Patrick (Rochelle) Hulton of Arcade, her mother Mary Esther Hulton of Arcade, sister-in-laws April (Barry) Reynolds of Falconer and Wanda (Kyle) Riethmiller of Farmersville, a special uncle and aunt Fran & Rita Lefort, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and her close friends. Emilene is pre-deceased by her infant son, her father James Hulton, her in-laws David & Joy (Mooney) Scurr, a very special grandmother in-law Jessie (Powell) Scurr whom she took care of, as well as several cousins, aunts and uncles. Emilene was a lifetime member of the Franklinville VFW Auxiliary Post #9487.

Friends may gather with the family at Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N Main St., Franklinville, Monday, March 12, 2018 from 3-7pm. Interment will be in Farmersville Cemetery.
