| About | Sadly, Joel Nickerson has passed away. He was my next door neighbor on Mill St in Delevan. Not sure what year he graduated, but knew he was a few years older than myself or his brother, Jeff. Please fill in the blanks I could not. I last saw him on my WNY visit in 2015. He was a nice guy. |

Joel H. Nickerson of Machias, NY passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the Bertrand-Chaffee Hospital in Springville at the age of 71.
He was born on September 27, 1951 in Salamanca, NY and was a son of the late James Henry and June Elizabeth (Frink) Nickerson. Joel was a member of the Machias Fire Department. He enjoyed playing guitar and driving and mowing his lawn with his John Deere. He also had a love for apple pie.
He had worked on the production line at Diamond Saw Works in Chaffee.
Joel is survived by his wife, Brenda (McLam) Piker Nickerson whom he married on June 30, 2012 in Machias; his children: Shawn Nickerson of Friendship and Lisa (Dave) Heldwein of Arcade; also survived by five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jeff (Pam) Nickerson and his grandson, Alex Heldwein.
