Charles Burton McCann, 74, of Third Street, Piketon, Ohio went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at his home.

He was born April 20, 1936 on Ladd Ridge in Pike County, Ohio, son of the late Harry Earl McCann and Florence Ellen Clifford McCann. In 1996, Charlie was united in marriage to Bobbie Jean Jennings McCann who survives.

Surviving are two children, Steven McCann and wife Joyce of Piketon, Linda Adams and husband Jerry of Clyde, Ohio, four grandchildren, Christopher and Craig McCann, Mimi and Lana Adams, three step children, Roy Lowery and wife Patty of Chillicothe, Ohio, Edison Lowery and wife Jeanette of Columbus, Ohio and Mary Susan Rodriguez and husband Robert of Texas as well as a sister, Darlene Smith of Piketon.

In addition to his parents, an infant son, Charles Ray McCann and two brothers, Gary Lee and Harold McCann, preceded Charlie in death.

Charles was a retired Maintenance Mechanic for Martin Marietta, a member of Orient Lodge 321 Free and Accepted Masons of Waverly, Ohio and attended Piketon Community Church where he held the position of Elder until his most recent illness. Since 1961 Charlie has spent much of his life involved with McCann Racing as a driver andmechanic.

A great nephew, Adam Strawser most recently assisted Charlie with his racing interest as well as became the driver.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home in Piketon with Pastor Alan Newberry, officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Lucasville, Ohio.

Friends may call at funeral home 4-8 p.m. Saturday and from noon until the service on Sunday. A Masonic service will be held 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. www.boyerfuneral.com
