About Clyde Merritt Dixon, 60, a Pike County native of 1630 S. Burnett Road, Springfield, died unexpectedly at 5:40 a.m. Sunday in Community Hospital, Springfield.
Mr. Dixon was a melter at Ohio Steel Foundry in Springfield for 27 years.
Born on June 14, 1908 in Pike County, he was a son of Elmer and Ivy (Merritt) Dixon.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gracie (Gragg) Dixon at home; 1 son, Melvin Dixon of Springfield; five daughter, Mrs. Thelma Van Hoose of Springfield, Mrs. Ruth Williams of Cincinnati, and Misses Hazel, Mary and Linda Dixon, all at home; four grandchildren, three brothers, Woodrow Dixon of Springfield, Ivan Dixon of Waverly and Charles Dixon of Rt 2, Piketon, and two sisters, Miss Hazel Dixon of Kingston, O., and Mrs. Mary Pfeifer of Waverly.
Mr. Dixon was a member of the Springfield Church of Christ in Christian Union.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bethel Church of Christ in Christian Union, with Rev. Donovan Humble of New Boston, Rev. Carl Ogden of Springfield and Rev. Robert L. Sayre of Waverly officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery under the direction of the A. H. Boyer and Son Funeral Home of Waverly.
Springfield friends called at the Jackson Lytle and Coffman Funeral Home there from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Boyer Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
