COVID 19 Impact on Wendell Phillips High School

Greetings all Alums,

As most of us know, we are living during a strange period. COVID 19 is has taken the life of at least two of our Wildcats, and perhaps even more. This is a request for all of us to take this virus seriously. Protect yourself and your loved ones. No one is immune at this point. We need you around a lot longer than in 2020. All classes are asked to do whatever it takes to prevent the spread of this a life-threatening virus. Regardless of your class, we need ALL HANDS involved in this fight.

The Chocolate Chip Cookie Man

Dear Wendell Phillips High School,

Dr. Darryl E. Norton (class of 1962) has written a new children's book called The Chocolate Chip Cookie Man. Dr. Norton is a speech pathologist working with special needs children and adolescents. One of the ways he would gain their trust was bringing cookies. The kids started calling him cookie man. From this came the idea for the character Chocolate Chip Cookie Man. The story is beautifully illustrated. The story teaches problem solving and team building. Dr. Norton was selected to be in the Wendell Phillips Hall of Fame
several years back.
