About	Durand Phalen Riggins Dec 18 1953-Jun 26 2010 Mr. Durand Phalen Riggins, age 56, of Silver Creek, passed away Saturday morning, June 26, 2010, in a local hospital. He was born in Floyd County on December 18, 1953, son of Marshall and Bea Reeves Purdy. He was a graduate of Pepperell High School in the class of '71 and had attended Georgia Highlands College. He formerly owned and operated Durand's Paint Center and had been associated with P. P. & G. for several years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Porter Paints/P. P. & G. He was of the True Believers of God Faith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Keelean Purdy, and by his maternal grandparents, Herschell and Marie Crawford Reeves. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mandy-Shea Eason, and her husband, Antony, London, England; a son, Phalen Riggins, and his wife, Bridgette, Peachtree City; a granddaughter, Marae Riggins; his parents, Marshall and Bea Purdy, Silver Creek; 2 sisters, Mrs. Monesia Burkhalter, and her husband, Steve, Silver Creek, and Mrs. Marquita Purdy, and her husband, Dale Herndon, Rome; a brother, Labraun Purdy, Silver Creek; his fiance', Ms. Jill Smith, Rome; a nephew, Keelean Burkhalter and a great niece, Kacie Burkhalter also survive. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Gilliam, M. Div. and Dr. Bill Landers will officiate. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Monday from 6-8pm. At other times the may be contacted at each of their respective homes. Pallbearers serving are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home Tuesday at 1:30pm and include: Alan Binkley, David Crumley, Wayne Evans, Phil Langston, Ritch Huggins, Patrick Smith, Ronnie Byrd, and Barry Gable. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements.
