About Mrs. Geraldine Burkhalter Sartin, age 88, 2534 Reeceburg Road, Cedartown, passed away Saturday evening, February 21, 2009, in a local health care facility.

Mrs. Sartin was born in Floyd County on November 15, 1920, daughter of the late John A. and Minnie Winkles Burkhalter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Theo (Bo) Sartin, by a son-in-law, Jim Brucato, by a great granddaughter, Mollie Freidin, by a sister, Zelpha Burkhalter, and by 2 brothers, Arvil and Winston Burkhalter. Mrs. Sartin retired from the Floyd County School System following over 29 years as lunchroom manager at Pepperell High School. She was a member of the Silver Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Sartin loved quilting and cooking, especially for her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Becky Sartin Brucato, Cedartown; a son, Rodney Sartin, and his wife, Barbara, Loganville; 8 grandchildren, Mrs. Lori Waits, and her husband, Tim, Lindale, Mrs. Jenny Reedy, and her husband, Jonathan, Piedmont, AL, Mrs. Julie Bartlett, and her husband, John, Coosa, Mrs. Amanda Freidin, and her husband, Jason, Loganville, Ms. Gina Brucato, Cedartown, Ms. Teresa Brown, Marietta, Ms. Leslie Goforth, Marietta, and Buster Kellar, and his wife, Crystal, Dayton, VA; 18 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Zella Hopkins, Huntsville, Ala., and Mrs. Lyndell Madden, Cedartown; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at 1pm at the Silver Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Harry Carter, the Rev. Herman Stamey, and Dr. Jimmie Green officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens with the Rev. Jerry Chisolm officiating.
