About October 1, 1957 - July 8, 2010
Mark L. Burrill, 52, of West Newbury, died suddenly on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Oct. 1, 1957 in Haverhill, the son of Shirley H. (Sawyer) Burrill and the late Leonard "Bud" R. Burrill who died May 3, 2010.
Mark graduated from Pentucket Regional High School as a National Merit Scholar and attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He was a lifelong learner with an uncanny ability to recall facts and figures and chose a profession that would challenge him and provide him with opportunities to grow professionally.
During his more than 25 year career in emergency medicine, Mark was distinguished for his service as a Paramedic who was highly regarded for his cool intellect and natural ability to respond in stressful situations. He was a respected mentor to his peers and dedicated employee of American Medical Response. He was a member of National Audubon Society and the Appalachian Mountain Club and an avid photographer.
However, his greatest joy and accomplishment were his two beloved sons. Mark cherished the experiences they shared during their time together.
In addition to his mother of West Newbury, he is survived by two sons, Thomas P. and Michael J. Burrill and former wife Susan M. (McGowan) Burrill of Arlington, Va.; two brothers, John A. Burrill and wife Sharon A. of Pawtucket, R.I., and Jay H. Burrill and wife Sharon L.R. of Danvers; three sisters, Sally B. Torell and husband Edgar of Wilmington, Polly Burrill of Fishkill, N.Y., and Martha Burrill St. Jean and husband Peter of Hampstead, N.H.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
