Flew various Navy jets off naval carriers 1973- 1996. Final years included tours as jet squadron Commanding Officer; "Air Boss" aboard USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) during Gulf War 1; and subsequent final tour as Professor of Strategy, US N aval War College, Newport, RI (1993-1996). Retired as Captain, US Navy 1996. Served as Adjunct Professor at Coastal Carolina Community College, teaching European History and Western Civilization (1996-1998).
