My interests are varied and I know a little bit about a lot of things. That makes me a pretty fair trivia game partner if nothing else. I support the arts, particularly theater and am a firm believer in Liberal Arts education. The broader the education the more well rounded the person. The greater the capacity for reason and independent thought, for an understanding of the world in which one lives, for passion and compassion. Yes, math & science are important but not at the expense of the arts. How colorless and boring the world will be when all our students graduate having only been exposed to math, science, and standardized testing. I like water to be water flavored - HOLD THE DAMN LEMON! Pretzels should be pretzel flavored, Newtons only ever needed to be fig and Oreos didn't need "more stuff" (okay, don't tell my kids but I have tried them and they are pretty good, but certainly not necessary). I believe that two things that are completely UNcommon are sense and courtesy - and they're growing more uncommon by the day. I believe that Paracelsus (1493-1541) had it right with his statement "Dosis Sola Facit Venenum" - The Dose Alone Makes the Poison. He was referring to toxicology but I think it equally refers to balance and applies to many areas of life. I am a very lucky man for I am loved by four beautiful women. I'm married to Leslie, my wife of 25 years and the absolute love of my life. The most important and wonderful pieces of my life were brought to me through my association with her. THE most important and wonderful being our three bright, beautiful, funny and wonderfully weird daughters. They fill me with pride, joy and they make me laugh. Those four individuals are my reason. My life. Leslie is a multi-published writer of romance novels. She writes comtemporary romantic comedy as Leslie Kelly and dark romantic suspense as Leslie Parrish. I am pretty much constantly immersed in the misty world of romance and romance publishing and it makes life very interesting. And yes, for the most part it is as good as you may imagine. I've learned some secrets about romance along the way and I'm willing to talk. Just ask me. Professionally I am a Certified Industrial Hygienist and a Certified Safety Professional and to pay the bills I am an employee of the federal government. I am also an ordained non-denominational minister who performs wedding ceremonies and other spritual services as well as a Reiki Master who offers Reiki treatments. When I grow up I want to be an actor/screen writer/cowboy/superhero/ridiculously wealthy person. And I want a pony. Actually I want three ponies to give to my daughters. Well...maybe four.
