Allen Roby
Class of 1972
Air Force, 20+ Years
Served as a military intelligence officer in various Air Force and joint assignments. Served on the Strategic Air Command's "Looking Glass" airborne command post, deployed with the Navy during Desert Shield/Desert Storm, deployed with the Army for Operation Just Cause in Panama, and was the Vice Director of Intelligence at NORAD in the wake of the attacks on 9/11. I met my wonderful wife while we were both stationed in Mtn. Home Idaho and we have two successful children and one granddaughter. I still work in intelligence, primarily supporting Air Force operations.

Spent my career in Finance & Supply. Was a member of the Icebreaker Northwind when we went over the top from Seattle to Greenland in 1965. Spent 14 months in Da Nang and the latter part of my career managing Military Clubs.

Navy, 20+ Years
After graduating from the US Naval Academy, spent 30 years as a Surface Warfare officer qualified in Nuclear Power. Eight tours at sea including command of a destroyer and cruiser as well as serving as Engineer Officer aboard the carrier ENTERPRISE. Involved in all 3 conflicts in the Persian Gulf and nearly every crisis between 1978 and 2003. Also had command at a shore command certifying deploying ships and staffs.

Drafted Dec 1963. Basic Training at Ft. Ord. Radar School at Ft. Monmouth, NJ, graduated top in class and second overall of the class series. Stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC with the 589th Signal Company. Deployed to the Dominican Republic by C-130 during the U.S. intervention into their civil war. Remained there for 6 months in tents eating C-Rations for 3 months. ETS'd on Thanksgiving Day 1965.
