i was a Lance Corporal in the Marine Corps. One of my duties was a machine gunner while I was station Vietnam. We were called Grunts, which means Ground pounders. We walk just about everywhere we had to go, while in Vietnam. I servic for 9 months and 20 days there. I received several Medals, One was The Combat "V" which mean I receive gun fire from the enemy, who was trying to kill me, just I was kill him. I was also involved ambushs, patrolling, search and destrol Villages that may be hiding Vietkongs.

Bill Thornton is a freelance photographer and writer. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a decorated Master Sgt. in November 1991 as a Newspaper Managing Editor, Media Relations Coordinator, and Public Affairs Superintendent. He served the United States in many capacities: Managing Editor, USAF Flying Safety Magazine, Wingman Magazine, and the Nuclear Surety Journal, USAF Safety Center, Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, N.M.; The Chief of Community Relations and Web News Director, Brooks City-Base, San Antonio, Texas; Deputy Director of Public Affairs and Chief of Media Relations, 82nd Training Wing, Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, Texas; Deputy Director Community Relations, Air Armament Center, and Public Affairs Coordinator, Air Force Research Laboratory, Eglin AFB, Florida. He also has the distinction of having served for nine years as a member of the District Board of Trustees, Northwest Florida State College eventually serving as Chairman. During his time at NWFSC, he also served on the K-20 Education Accountability Task Force, Florida Board of Education and the Diversity Committee, Association of Community College Trustees, Washington, DC.
