About Me	Sir Winston Churchill: "A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." I believe in choosing to live my life as an optimist. Mike "The only disability in life is a bad attitude." I served four years enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a yeoman and the remainder of my Active Duty service as an Adjutant General Corps officer in the U.S. Army. Since I retired from Active Duty, I have worked with the Civilian Leadership Training Division at Fort Leavenworth and with the Army Management Staff College. The Civilian Leadership Training Division and the Army Management Staff College merged to become one organization in late 2006. I conducted leadership seminars and education for the US Army for the over 21 years before retiring October 31, 2011. Much more important than anything about my career, I was married to the love of my life, who changed my life, and forever changed me into the man I have become today. Her name is Patrizia and she battled for her life against cancer for almost five years before the cancer took her from me. She taught me to be more courageous in her last five years fighting that disease than all my combined Army training ever taught me. She taught me how precious life is and how special my children, their spouses, and my grandson and Granddaughter are. She enlightened me to how important compassion, empathy and family truly are.
