He died in severe car accident on I-680 in Omaha when the car in which he was rided struck a bridge pillar. He was such a big fan that many mourners at his funeral packed his casket with husker memorbillia, so much so that the funeral director stated that they had to make double sure he was in there before they closed the casket.
